Benefits of Home Staging

When it comes to selling your home, first impressions are everything, and staging can make all the difference. According to the National Association of Realtors’ 2025 Profile of Home Staging, nearly half of all sellers’ agents report that staged homes spend less time on the market, and close to 30% of agents saw offer prices increase between 1% and 10% on staged properties. On a $400,000 home, that could mean up to $40,000 more in your pocket.

Beyond the numbers, 83% of buyers’ agents say staging helps buyers emotionally connect with a space and visualize it as their future home, which is a powerful motivator when it comes to making an offer. Simply put, staging isn’t an added expense; it’s a strategic investment that can pay for itself many times over at the closing table. The good news is that many of the most impactful staging steps are things you can tackle yourself.

  • Outside, start with curb appeal, a fresh coat of paint on the front door, updated house numbers, a new welcome mat, and refreshed flowers or landscaping can instantly elevate your home’s first impression.
  • Inside, begin with decluttering every room, removing oversized furniture that makes spaces feel cramped, and paring down personal items like family photos so buyers can envision themselves living there. Deep clean every surface, paying special attention to kitchens and bathrooms, and be sure to eliminate pet odors and neutralize strong scents with fresh air or subtle, neutral fragrances.
  • Don’t overlook the details, replace burnt-out lightbulbs, touch up scuffed walls with a fresh coat of neutral paint, organize closets to showcase storage space, and add simple touches like fresh towels, a bowl of fruit, or a small floral arrangement to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

These relatively small efforts can have a significant impact on how buyers perceive your home from the moment they walk through the door.
